Students want to know that they are making academic progress, and creating a growth portfolio is one way to assist them. A student growth portfolio is a student-centered technique for portfolio development where learning is prioritized. The portfolio assessment encourages learning focused on individual needs through self-evaluation and reflection. It also involves the deliberate gathering of student work that illustrates accomplishments.
Benefits
Allows students to;
Identify learning gaps.
Develop organization and time-management skills.
Decide on future objectives based on data and standards.
Reflect on learning by reviewing a wide range of work accumulated throughout time.
Plan and manage time to complete activities by analyzing and evaluating progress.
Shortcomings
Time-consuming
Requires more time for the teacher to give feedback
